Steps To A Nuclear Weapons-Free World: Daniel Ellsberg

 

Today, roughly 14,000 nuclear weapons are in existence, ready to launch on warning within fifteen minutes.

The New Jersey Institute of Technology hosts this conference to speak out on the many facets of this critical problem. Nine experts, including Daniel Ellsberg, Dr. Robert Jay Lifton and other Nobel Peace Prize recipients and scientists will examine this crucial problem of reducing the nuclear threat to our planet.

Nuclear arms are the only weapons of mass destruction not yet prohibited by an international convention. Over 3,000 scientists, including 23 Nobel laureates have signed a letter to support talks at the UN to make nuclear weapons as unthinkable as biological and chemical weapons.

Laura Grego, senior scientist and expert on weapons in space, Union of Concerned Scientists

Ray Acheson, Nobel Peace Prize winner for creating the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons or ICAN

Elaine Scarry, Harvard University, Cabot Professor of aesthetics and the general theory of value, author of “Thermonuclear Monarchy: Choosing between Democracy and Doom”
