New Year’s Day Annual Beach Walk 2019

Coney Island has its Polar Bear Club to bring in the New Year, but on Staten Island, we walk the beach.  And have been doing so for 29 years around noon on New Year’s Day come rain or shine, snow or hail, cold, colder or coldest, whatever.

The walk, sponsored by Protectors of the Pine Oak Woods (PPOW) and the Natural Resources Protected Association (NRPA), gathers environmentalists from throughout Staten Island, invites family, friends and others from outside the island to help bring in the New Year, remember those who went before us and to look forward to our next set of environmental goals.
