Friend —
A small and mighty contingent of the Stop Shopping Choir breached the commodity wall at Citibank, a major financier of Dakota Access Pipeline. Mayfield and I on the floor, Dragonfly preaching and Amadeus anointing… I lay on the floor listening to Dragonfly and the incessant beeping of ATM’s, my limbs entwined with Mayfield’s, her pulse on my ankle.
Let’s learn to be more vulnerable in these retail spaces, because these retail spaces are making us more and more vulnerable elsewhere. Let’s denormalize this whole reality. We shouldn’t do business with banks that finance our demise.
If you’re in NYC on Sunday, join us at our Badass Mother’s Day show at Joe’s Pub at 2 pm. I’m eager to see you in the audience, we have great new material and abundant joie de vivre. Bring your kid, or bring your mom. Let’s get back to the radical roots of Mothers Day. We all know we have to change the world
Also, Friday evening May 12th we’ll be at our longtime home, The Lower East Side Girls Club, to unveil a beautiful new mural by James Garland and Hugo Muñoz and will join electeds and activists in a discussion of the refugee crisis. We’ll sing our new song Love At the Gate with some of the young women from the Girls Club.
