Hands Across The Sand: Bradley Beach, NJ
HANDS ACROSS THE SAND
On Saturday, May 16, 2015 at just about noon on Bradley Beach in the township of Bradley Beach, NJ, people joined hands in protest against the coming idea and possible action of exploring and drilling for fossil fuels right off their coastline or anywhere within hundreds of miles along that ocean boundary, both north and south of where they stood.
Among them were Gary Engelstad, the Mayor; US Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (CD-06); Jeff Tittel, Director of NJ Sierra Club; Kristen Gibbs, Chair of the Jersey Shore Surfrider Foundation; Klaus Rittenbach of Citizens Climate Lobby; Toni Granato, Bob Sandberg, also of NJ Sierra Club and many other members and individuals from many walks of life.
Their solution: Don’t drill; use renewables, use wind power, use solar. Be sustainable.
This annual rally/action also took place in Long Beach, Long Island, NY, up and down the Atlantic coast, the Pacific coast and coastlines around the world.
No to LNG. No to exploring and drilling. No to Fossil Fuels.
