MARK LEVINE TELLS AUDIENCE: CALL COUNCIL MEMBERS TO CO-SPONSOR ROSENTHAL RESOLUTION AGAINST FAST TRACK AND “BAD TRADE DEAL”
Speaking at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church on West 126th. St. in Manhattan on March 12, 2015, at a meeting entitled “How Would Fast Track and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Impact Our Community?” New York City Council Member Mark Levine asks his
audience to stand with him against Fast Track and the TPP, “a bad trade deal …that would gut environmental, labor, and even food safety regulations.” He urges his audience to call Council Members for co-sponsorship of Council Resolution #576 to support congressional legislators in their fight against the Fast Track bill that would impact policies and regulations not just on federal and state levels but also locally.
He was joined by other presenters, including New York State Assemblyman Keith Wright, who spoke compellingly about the need to oppose Fast Track and the TPP, James Stone, representing CWA Local 1101, and Estela Vazquez, Executive VP of 1199/SEIU.

The event was sponsored by the Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter and NYC Group; Food and Water Watch (FWW); Trade Justice NY Metro, Communication Workers of America (CWA), and co-sponsored by numerous others including the Broadway Democrats Club, Three Parks Independent Democrats Club, MoveOn NY Councils, United for Action and Democracy for America.
