The People's Earth Day 2014 The People's Earth Day 2014

In contrast to corporate mainstream events on Earth Day, April 22, 2014, the people in Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan, the place where the “occupy movement” began in late 2011, held a different action. People involved in various environmental ideas and groups ranging from Staten Island’s Mount Manresa, NYS’s Green Party, the divestment movement, System Change Not Climate Change, farmers and a radio disc jockey, among others, voiced their opinions in a rally using “mike check” before marching on to the NY Stock Exchange. Under a statue of George Washington, they voiced their “mike check” speeches to end the use of fossil fuels and take back Earth Day for the people and away from the corporations.
