New York Activists Visit Albany To Protest The Latest LNG Regulations
On October 30, 2013, New Yorkers from across the state rallied outside of  the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) in Albany  to protest its latest regulations on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). The proposed regulations would lift a moratorium on LNG that followed a major explosion and death of 40 workers in Staten Island in 1973.The new regulations, or, more aptly, the lack thereof, would give a green light for the oil and gas industry to potentially build out a massive infrastructure for fracking, a delivery system designed to reap huge profits from the export of fracked gas to countries abroad.
