Nuclear Convergence: Next Step

The Stony Point Convergence participants talked about the NEXT STEP in the decommissioning of Indian Point:  what can the land be used for and when can it be used.  Furthermore, can we trust the government or Entergy Corp., to diligently do the oversight that will be required in this process, if not, who can?

A review of Dr. Gordon Edwards†visit during the recent 6th. memorial of the Fukushima disaster on the weekend of March 10, 11, and 12th, centered on his discussion of “Rolling Stewartship” at a few of his NYS stops, including one at Stony Point.

The recent Albany hearing brought up more on Indian Pointâ€s energy not ONLY being NOT NEEDED but having been replaced for awhile already, yet Gov. Cuomo still insists on a Nuclear NYS tax subsidy or Nuclear Power Plant bailout to the tune of $7.6 Billion dollars, which goes not to fellow citizens but to the corporationâ€s stockholders.  Much of the public, including the company itself, governmental officials and the news media in general, still talk abount Indian Point providing much of our areaâ€s energy needs when the facts are totally otherwise.  We need ZERO.

Bringing together other environmental groups, such as Food and Water Watch and the various local area Anti-Pipeline and other energy infrastructure groups, resulted in deciding to invite these groups to the Convergenceâ€s next Meeting in May.
