Tastes Like Tar Sands - The Environment TV
Did you know? The Coca-Cola company is one of the largest private oil consumers in the United States! Operating tens of thousands of vehicles, Coke is a MAJOR gas guzzler. The soft drink giant claims to be a leader in sustainability. But such a claim is meaningless if Coke continues to use the dirtiest oil on earth in its delivery vehicles. That’s right, Coke’s secret ingredient is Canadian tar sands oil. #TastesLikeTarSands The sequel to this video is here Why do Cola-Cola and Pepsi use tar sands oil to power their fleets of trucks? Tar sands mining poisons vast amounts of water every day with ammonia, cyanide, arsenic and other known carcinogens, which are then dumped into massive leaky “lakes” of poisonous wastewater. Significantly increased levels of these carcinogens have been found in watersheds as far as 50 miles away from the tar sands mining sites. Local indigenous communities have reported unusually high rates of rare types of cancer associated with these toxins, along with fish with severe deformities. End use of tar sands oil now! from Peter Menchini https://vimeo.com/user8978674
